Today we celebrated Jim Gibson’s completion of 13 years at kor group.

Co-founding partner at kor group, MB Jarosik is so proud of the entire kor
family and notes Jim Gibson, an Associate at kor group is one of our
greatest assets. His passion for design and true client collaboration is
unstoppable.

Some of the projects Jim has worked on in his 13th year include: Beaver
Country Day School Summer Program, Bancroft Country Day School publications,
and Holy Cross College integrated marketing communications program.

Congratulations Jim – here’s to the next 13!

The kor designed BOND corporate identity won 1st Place at this year’s SMPS National Marketing Communications Awards!

SMPS is the Society for Marketing of Professional Services and their ‘Build Business’ Awards Gala was held last Thursday at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. The SMPS Awards program is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards competition that recognizes excellence in marketing communications by professional services firms in the design and building industry.

Judges’ comments were that BOND’s submission was “very clearly stated,” that the “color scheme was very nice” and that the “identity matches the company very well.”

kor is honored to receive such a recognition and enjoyed the evening’s celebration with some of the BOND client team.

We were recently notified by SMPS that kor group has been recognized as a recipient for a 33rd Annual SMPS National Marketing Communications Award for the work we did with BOND. Awards will be given out at the gala on July 15, 2010. We are one of 48 firms selected to receive an award at the event.

Soon after we completed the WPI #1 MBA campaign, kor group developed the Department of Management’s 2008-2009 Annual Report. WPI’s Department of Management has a lot to be proud of, in addition to the incredible #1 part-time MBA in the nation, so we’ve highlighted those achievements in their annual report. This was a great project for us, we worked with Lee Nash on the concept and copy and Michael Malyszko who shot some beautiful portraits. Kirkwood Printing printed and delivered a beautiful piece once again. Thanks to WPI and everyone involved. Looking forward to see what 2010-2011 has in store. Enjoy!

Getting Personal

This year, when we reprinted Wheelock College’s yield poster, we suggested getting personal. In the past, the “post it” on the cover said, “Why Wheelock?” and in this year’s version, we’ve added a variable data component, so that each post-it is personalized to the recipient — “Welcome Nicole!”

Sometimes a small change can make a big difference, and that personal touch might just make Nicole (or another accepted student) feel welcome.

Talk about pushing your creative brainstorms to the limit! That’s what we are doing at kor group. Thanks to ideapaint.com we now have the freedom to sketch and jot ideas on our 12ft x 25ft conference room wall — and we don’t have to worry about mom yelling at us.

This product is a paint (ours was applied by www.paintingunlimited.com) that comes in various colors and can be applied to any surface to turn it into a frameless whiteboard. It’s a great way to cover chalk boards to eliminate chalk dust and because it is a paint you are not limited by the small sizes of off the shelf white boards.

Writing on the wall has helped to lessen note taking at brainstorms and allow team members to spend more time throwing ideas at the wall so everyone can see them at once. It also saves on paper and notepads.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Department of Management was recently ranked #1 part-time MBA in the nation by BusinessWeek. kor group led the cross media advertising campaign with Redhead Media, and the marketing team at WPI. The branding and design had to work on various applications; from a 1″ sticker, to an outdoor billboard, online and on-air. We kept the design bold and simple to promote this exceptional ranking as clearly as possible across all media. WPI has been known as a leading technology school for years. With this prestigious ranking, and kor’s help branding the campaign, we hope to inform the nation that WPI is also a leader in business. Congratulations to WPI, for being #1!

Extending the Merrimack brand

We recently created some new marketing pieces for Merrimack College that complement and extend the suite of materials we created last year (for which we won a bronze award in the total recruitment category for the Higher Ed Marketing’s Annual Education Advertising Awards).

For these new pieces, we pulled colors and fonts from the overall standards that we originally created and added a brighter, secondary color palette to the existing one, thus freshening the brand that will continue to evolve as new needs and challenges are met. These brighter colors are incorporated into the parent newsletter, four school brochures, and the junior discovery brochures.

10 Years of Palm Beach Event Branding

Last weekend Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, held their annual fundraising event in Palm Beach, Florida for their community of donors. kor group has partnered with BIDMC and branded their events and communications materials since 2000 and 2010 was no exception.

This year’s event was focused on the topic of healthcare reform. The design reflects a more serious typographic approach, while still communicating elegance and festivity. We created this system of materials using a rich color palette, soft transparencies and innovative shapes which are formed from the letters and numbers in PB10. Congratulations to BID for yet another successful fundraising event!

A fresh design for a 100 year old technique

kor group recently launched AlexanderInstruction.com. The new online home of Lauren Hallal, certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique, now practiced for over 100 years world wide, not only can help improve the voice, breathing and posture, but also relieves back, neck and other chronic pain.

We designed a new identity and marketing website to promote Lauren’s practice. We built the website on Textpattern, an open source content management system, which will allow Lauren to keep her site current without worrying about all the “technical stuff”.
